I have so many reasons to love India Hicks, her gorgeous home in Bahamas for one.

Entrepreneur, former model, author, daughter to celebrated English Interior Designer, David Hicks, Cousin and Goddaughter to Prince Charles and bridesmaid to the late Princess Diana. She is a Mother  of four and she is stunningly beautiful.

Was this the list of reasons I love her or envy her?

Well I love her style and even more so I adore her home. She lives in this gorgeous plantation style five bedroom house, named Hibiscus Hill, with her partner David Flint Wood and their four children.

Hibiscus Hill was built in the 1950's and sits on three acres of rolling gardens. Surrounded by jungle on two sides, rolling dunes on the other and lastly a valley of coconut palms. In the distance you can see the roof tops of the houses in town and the sun setting. They bought it in 1997 and and spent a year adding verandas and balustrades to give the home an 1850's appearance.

India Hicks chose to use a natural palette for the interior of the family home because the island offers such a kaleidoscope of colours.

Dozens of photographs line the simple plywood rails. A beautiful way to display all the memories of people and places. It instantly creates a fun and inviting room.

Inspiration from the Caribbean is in every nook and cranny of the house; palm leaves, shells, coral, fuchsia flowers cut straight from the garden.

India Hicks calls the above image 'The scrap Wall'. She has use and old printers tray and filled it with shells that she and her family have found on the beach. She then has them varnished and on the surrounding wall pins postcards.

In her own words India Hick describes her home -

'Our home is our storehouse of family history, a living archive that holds the treasures of our personal life. It speaks of where we've been, who we are and the distinctive style cultivated by our journey together'.

I don't think it matters where we live, the important point is to be surrounded by objects we love and in harmony with our surroundings - there really is beauty everywhere and we can take so much away from the home of this beautiful woman, India Hicks.

  1. I can see why you love her. She has amazing taste, classic and timeless. I love the picture ledge most of all. While we don't all have the luxury of living in a beautiful home in the Bahamas, there are several ideas in the photos that I would love to incorporate into my own home. Thanks for the inspiration! Oh, and thanks for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment earlier. :)

  2. The picture ledge is what made me fall in love with her style - I have since done one at my parents and my sisters house! It is the best way to display so many photos!

I'm still lusting over your laundry and those amazing pins! But really it's the before and after that really gives the inspiration and hope to many of us - It is just so 'real life turned home beautiful magazine!"

    A must read for everyone!
